Luke, an 11-year-old border collie therapy dog, recently received a free eye examination from Dr. Cory Mosunic (left), the board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist at Newtown Veterinary Specialists. Veterinary Assistant Carolyn DelVecchio (right) lends a hand.

During the National Service Dog Eye Exam Event last month, Dr. Mosunic examined the eyes of dozens of service animals from throughout the region. The free exams help ensure eye health to enable working animals to continue performing their important tasks assisting people.

The eye test was a walk in the park for the cooperative canine and he then strolled home safely and soundly with his grateful owner, Sister Mary Foley.
